日本人の生活に古くから深く根付いてきた「藍染」。
「JAPAN BLUE（ジャパンブルー）」として現代でも親しまれている藍染は日本の染色文化の象徴です。
江戸時代には、庶民向けの衣類や雑貨にも浸透していった藍染ですが、
明治時代には合成染料の輸入が増え、伝統的な藍染は徐々に衰退していきました。
現在も昔ながらの技法で生産されている藍は「本藍染」や「天然藍」などとされ、区別されています。

藍特有の奥深い色合いは空気酸化することにより発色していき、染めと水洗いを幾度と繰り返すことで藍本来の色合いが生まれます。
藍からできる色数は豊富で、48種類と言われています。

浅井ローケツの藍染は、すべて熟練した職人の手によって染め上げられます。
化学染料では決して表現できない深みと、自然素材ならではの同じものは二つとない表情が魅力です。

Indigo dyeing has been deeply rooted in Japanese life and culture for centuries.

Known as "Japan Blue", indigo remains one of the most iconic symbols of Japan's dyeing traditions.

The rich blue color of natural indigo develops through oxidation, with repeated dyeing and rinsing creating its remarkable depth and character. Indigo is said to produce as many as 48 different shades of blue.

At Asai Roketsu, every piece is hand-dyed by skilled artisans using traditional natural indigo techniques. The beauty of our work lies in its depth of color and the unique expressions that only natural materials can createーno two pieces are ever exactly alike.

藍染の染料となる『蒅（すくも）』が完成するまでには、約300日もの歳月を要します。
藍の栽培から葉の摘み取り、乾燥、発酵、熟成に至るまで、すべて藍師の手仕事によって行われます。こうして丹念に作られた蒅が、藍染の原料となります。

浅井ローケツでは、日本の藍生産の本場である徳島県産の阿波藍のみを使用しています。
徳島の豊かな自然と気候風土の中で育まれた阿波藍は、化学染料では表現することのできない奥深い色彩と、使い込むほどに増していく美しい風合いをもっています。

About Sukumo(Composted Indigo)

It takes approximately 300 days to produce sukumo, the traditional indigo dye material used in Japanese indigo dyeing.

From cultivating the indigo plants and harvesting the leaves to drying, fermenting, and aging them, every step is carried out by skilled indigo artisans. Through this careful process, sukumo is created as the foundation of natural indigo dyeing.

At Asai Roketsu, we use only Awa Indigo from Tokushima Prefecture, Japan's most renowned indigo-producing region.

Nurtured by Tokushima's rich natural environment and unique climate, Awa Indigo produces a depth of color and beauty that cannot be achieved with synthetic dyes, developing even greater character with age and use.
